One of our ministry partners here at the Northwest campus is The Spero Project. For those of you not familiar with this compassionate ministry, The Spero Project was created to help connect people with the relationships and resources they need to take the “next step” in confronting issues they care about both in their local and global communities. Spero accomplishes this mission by focusing on four strategic areas of ministry: refugees (Spero:Voice), foster care and adoption (Spero:Legacy), marginalized women (Spero:Aspire), and combating poverty (Spero:Resource).
Spero is a great ministry that you, your LifeGroup, your friends and family can all participate in by serving. In fact, Spero has made it even easier for you to serve by creating a new website that lists all of their current serving needs that can be found at www.thesperoproject.com/search. This website will be updated regularly with serving opportunities at Spero and other local organizations, so be sure and check it often.
You do not have to go through the campus to sign up to serve Spero. You can sign your LifeGroup up to serve through the Spero website or by contacting Kim Bandy at kim@thesperoproject.com Be sure and make the most of this opportunity to serve others this summer as you and your LifeGroup strive to be the hands of feet of Christ to those that are in need.

Many of you have expressed a desire for your LifeGroups to be more involved in MicroMissions and ministering those in need in your local communities in 2010. There is currently a great opportunity at the Northwest Campus that will help you in gearing your LifeGroup towards ministering to those in need. Our mission partners Mercy Ministries The Spero Project have joined together to minister and serve those in need in our community, in addition to providing training, guidance, and resources for clients served. This year the Northwest Campus has committed to serving these great ministries every Monday evening from 5:45 to 8:30pm.
From packaging groceries to praying with clients to helping with clean up, there’s something for everyone. This is a great opportunity for your LifeGroup, your family, your co-workers, or yourself to serve on a regular basis.
If you are interested in serving, you can sign up online at this link: http://tinyurl.com/monday-signup.

Spero. (Latin) to hope for, hope.
The mission of The Spero Project is to provide information, resources, and networking opportunities, equipping and encouraging individuals and local churches to meet the needs of a global community in innovative, effective, and exciting ways.
Members of The Spero Team have served in many capacities in the church as well as in nonprofit organizations, so we hope that we bring ideas and opportunities to both that benefit all involved. We feel strongly that more can be accomplished together than apart. We know that God is doing amazing things in our city and all over the globe. And we have sincere belief in the Gospel to bring Truth and Freedom. We think you’ll see all this reflected in our content and in our blog posts. Spero means “hope” and Hope is what we have.
