compassion-logoFor the final week of One Prayer, we partnered with Compassion International to encourage all of our One Prayer churches to consider sponsoring children that are in need all over the world. Thank you to those that visited the Compassion International booth this past weekend and decided to sponsor a child. Your giving will make a tremendous impact in the lives of a needy child. It is still not too late to sponsor a child. Sponsorship costs between $38 and $45 per month per child and this would be a great opportunity for your LifeGroup to partner together and sponsor a child. Talk it over with your LifeGroup this week and consider sharing the cost of sponsoring a child. Not only would it change the life of a child, but it would be a great ministry opportunity for your LifeGroup. If your group is interested in sponsoring a child please visit http://www.compassion.com/sponsor_a_child/default.htm

Flood Relief Efforts – Update

Teams from all of the Oklahoma City area campuses of LifeChurch.tv are out in full force today helping clean up from the devastating floods that occurred yesterday here in the metro area; however, we still need your help. If you or your LifeGroup would like to help in the flood relief efforts this evening, go to the Oklahoma City campus at 5:30pm located at NW 178th and N. Pennsylvania. Teams will then leave from the campus to go to the flooded areas. If you cannot make it to the campus at that time, then simply go to the clean-up site, which is located at the corner of NW 172nd and N. Western. Just follow the LifeChurch.tv directional signs to find where you need to check in. Here are the supplies that you can bring: brooms, shovels, rakes, work gloves and cordless drills. Make sure to wear boots or thick shoes. Teams will most likely be working up until night. Let’s go and be the hands and feet of Christ as help those who were in need.

Spero Project Serving Opportunities

Spero ProjectOne of our ministry partners here at the Northwest campus is The Spero Project. For those of you not familiar with this compassionate ministry, The Spero Project was created to help connect people with the relationships and resources they need to take the “next step” in confronting issues they care about both in their local and global communities. Spero accomplishes this mission by focusing on four strategic areas of ministry: refugees (Spero:Voice), foster care and adoption (Spero:Legacy), marginalized women (Spero:Aspire), and combating poverty (Spero:Resource).

Spero is a great ministry that you, your LifeGroup, your friends and family can all participate in by serving. In fact, Spero has made it even easier for you to serve by creating a new website that lists all of their current serving needs that can be found at www.thesperoproject.com/search. This website will be updated regularly with serving opportunities at Spero and other local organizations, so be sure and check it often.

You do not have to go through the campus to sign up to serve Spero. You can sign your LifeGroup up to serve through the Spero website or by contacting Kim Bandy at kim@thesperoproject.com Be sure and make the most of this opportunity to serve others this summer as you and your LifeGroup strive to be the hands of feet of Christ to those that are in need.

Tornado Relief Efforts

The Northwest campus is partnering with Oklahoma County to deploy volunteers for tornado relief efforts. Volunteers are needed at The County Barn located at 7501 S. Anderson in Oklahoma City Monday through Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm. There is a significant need to help serve lunch to the victims and workers from 11:00am-1:00pm. From this location county officials will organize and disperse volunteers to needed areas for clean-up work. Bring work gloves, chain saws, rakes, and trash bags. For more information contact LifeGroups & Missions Robert Davis at robert.davis@lifechurch.tv.

Sharefest 2010 Photos

Last Saturday the Northwest campus truly became the hands and feet of Christ as we partnered with Cherokee Baptist Church for the Tulakes/Lyrewood Sharefest in serving the Lyrewood apartment communities. God was truly at work as our MicroMission teams brought joy into the lives of many who were in need.

I want to share with you some photos from Sharefest that were kindly provided by Cheryl Singleton and Sunny Hanna. I have posted a few of the photos below. LifeGroup leaders, I want to remind you about one of our great ministry partners here at the Northwest campus. Since the campus began, we have worked closely with Tulakes Elementary School and have led several MicroMission projects to assist in meeting the needs of the school, it’s children and their families. There are still plenty of opportunities for your LifeGroup to become involved in this great ministry. If your LifeGroup is interesting in serving Tulakes Elementary, then contact Tulakes Volunteer Coordinator Jen Evans at 721-4360.
